Abstract Submission

Researchers, scholars, advocates and students from diverse disciplinary positions including sociology, nursing, physiotherapy, allied health care, social work, psychology, medicine, anthropology, critical culture and race studies, economics, communication and media studies, history, philosophy, and geography are invited to submit abstracts and to attend.

 

Conference themes focus on, but are not confined to, the following topics:

• Technologies: health promotion, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, monitoring and communication
• Intensification of governmentality and its processes
• Space and place of health production
• Citizenship and ‘democratisation’ of health research and services
• Neoliberalism, neo-conservatism and social injustice
• Dominance and race, gender, sexuality or other structural categories of difference
• Art, humanities and health
• Ethics in health care in the 21st century
• Posthuman conceptions of health and illness
• Ideologies of risk
• Points of resistance

There will be three types of presentations:

Individual Oral Presentation

One presentation of 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for dialogue.

Group Oral Presentation

Group of either three or four presentations exploring a common issue, with 60 or 80 minutes plus 30 or 40 minutes for dialogue.

Poster Presentations

Poster will be given a specific time within the program, according to the number of accepted submissions.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:

  • Abstracts must be submitted via the online submission tool by 31 October 2017
  • Submissions for group presentations should be done by the group coordinator (primary contact) on behalf of all authors.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by email no later than 15 December 2017
  • Successful applicants must confirm their acceptance by 15 February 2018

For Group Oral Presentations, please include:

  1. Abstract text combined up to 1400 words
  2. Overall title as well as subtitles of the presentation
  3. Four keywords
  4. Selection of conference theme(s)
  5. Information for primary contact and all authors/presenters including:
    -Full name
    -Affiliation
    -Role (author and/or presenter)
    -Contact email

For Poster Presentations, please include:

  1. Abstract text up to 350 words
  2. Title of the presentation
